Abdul Carter will not work out at NFL Combine, agents announce
Abdul Carter, expected to be an early draft pick, will not be working out for teams at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey made the announcement on Monday, saying Carter is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in Penn State’s College Football Playoff game against Boise State.
The scouting combine in Indianapolis begins Thursday and lasts through Sunday. Carter instead plans to work out for teams at Penn State’s pro day showcase on March 28.
“We fully expect Abdul to be recovered in time to work out at his pro day at Penn State and he will perform at a very high level,” Rosenhaus said, per Adam Schefter.
Schefter’s tweet notes that Rosenhaus is sending NFL teams a note from Dr. Dan Cooper on Carter’s shoulder saying the elite edge rusher has been cleared to resume training.
Carter was the FBS leader in tackles for loss this past season with 24. He recorded 68 tackles, 12 sacks, 4 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles during his final season as a Nittany Lion.
Noted NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah projected Carter to go No. 1 overall in the 2025 class.
