Saquon Barkley is going to be quite the NFL prospect one day.

The Penn State tailback won’t be eligible to declare for the NFL draft for at least another year, but he obviously already has next-level ability.

In a winter workout, Barkley ran the 40-yard dash. Quickly.

According to Penn State receivers coach Josh Gattis, six clocks had Barkley timed at 4.3 seconds.

For a little perspective, a 4.30 was the fastest 40 time ever recorded by a B1G player at the combine. The fastest 40 in combine history was Chris Johnson’s 4.24. This year, of course, adidas is offering an island to anyone that can beat that.

Running that time in practice is one thing, but that was also before Barkley went through any sort of combine training.

Nobody will argue that the Penn State junior is a freak athlete. Last year, Barkley tied the Penn State record with a 390-pound power clean.

Penn State is fortunate that the NFL doesn’t allow players to declare after two seasons. Barkley looks like he’s ready to turn some more heads in 2017.
