Brian Jones calls out Penn State's 'bland' offense vs. Ohio State: '[It] had no imagination'
Brian Jones revealed to his CBS Sports colleagues that he felt let down by what ultimately turned out to be a relatively tame Penn State-Ohio State affair. The Nittany Lions suffered their 1st loss of the season on Saturday, falling to the Buckeyes 20-12 at Ohio Stadium.
“I was lied to. Y’all told me that Ohio State and Penn State was going to be one of those games of the century, and it wasn’t,” he razzed his studio mates on Tuesday’s “Inside College Football”.
The Buckeyes and Nittany Lions combined for 605 yards of offense, with Penn State registering 240 of those yards. Drew Aller threw for just under 200 yards and his team was credited with 49 yards on the ground as they dropped a 7th straight game to the Buckeyes.
“Penn State’s offense had no imagination, no creativity, no nothing. It was so bland,” he said while crediting the Buckeyes’ defense for keeping the Nittany Lions at bay.
However, Jones did have some praise for Penn State’s efforts on the other side of the ball.
“Penn State’s defense, they came as advertised as well. They shouldn’t hang their heads one bit, but they had more offense than the offense did,” he said.
