It’s not the news anyone wanted to hear.

Denver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler is out for the season with a torn ACL, the team announced Monday. He suffered the injury in the first half of Denver’s 26-0 trouncing of the New York Jets Sunday afternoon.

Hamler was the Broncos’ 2nd-round pick in 2020 after 2 years at Penn State as a wide receiver and punt returner. He was an All-B1G honorable mention as a punt returner and Second Team All-B1G as a wide receiver as a sophomore in 2019 before entering the draft.

The Broncos selected him with the 46th overall pick in the 2020 draft and he’s primarily played receiver during his short NFL career. Before his season-ending injury, Hamler had 5 receptions for 74 yards for the Broncos as a backup wide receiver.
