Four-star linebacker Ellis Brooks was one of the last remaining targets for James Franklin’s 2017 class.
And like most things these days, that went the Lions’ way.
Brooks took a late official visit to Penn State after the Lions made a last-minute push to bring him on board. On Monday, the four-star linebacker announced that he’s committed to Penn State:

Brooks went with the Lions instead of the likes of Maryland, Northwestern and Notre Dame.
The 6-2, 233-pound recruit is the No. 13 inside linebacker and the No. 269 player in the 2017 class. Brooks earned Under Armour All-America honors, as well.
The No. 10 player in Virginia, the Richmond recruit is Penn State’s fourth-rated defensive player in its 2017 class. His commitment gave Penn State yet another four-star talent from the East Coast.
Brooks marked the Lions’ 10th four-star commitment for the 2017 class, which is the highest total of the James Franklin era. Penn State is up to No. 15 overall in the 247sports 2017 class rankings.
