It is a big day for the B1G as they are huge games that will impact the race for the B1G. One of these games is #20 Penn State (5-2; 2-2 in B1G) at #5 Ohio State (6-1; 4-0 in B1G).

Penn State is looking to bounce back after their tough 20-18 nine overtime loss at home to Illinois last week. This game today will be the fifth consecutive game that will feature a ranked versus ranked matchup between Penn State and Ohio State.

The last time that Penn State defeated Ohio State was in 2016 when the unranked Penn State shocked #2 Ohio State 24-21. There is a big chance for Penn State to shock the nation once again with a big win over Ohio State, but it will be difficult.

On College Gameday, Lee Corso had this to say about Ohio State and their matchup versus Penn State, “In my opinion, Ohio State is the second-best team in the nation. They’ve won 5 straight and they’ve destroyed their opponents. They’ve got to be careful, though, because for some reason Penn State plays them very, very close.”

Desmond Howard doesn’t give Penn State much of a chance versus Ohio State by saying, “I think they’ve played great football, but you look at their opponents and it’s not a murderer’s row. To their credit, they’ve been going out there, handling their business. Ohio State has been kicking butts and taking names. I don’t think Penn State is going to be a formidable opponent. Nothing that I’ve seen from them in the last two games gives me the impression that they can do anything to slow down the offense.”

David Pollack is more optimistic about Penn State than Howard by saying, “I don’t know if Penn State can score with them, I don’t know if they can stop them, but they’ve got a great secondary. When you look at this defense, they’ve got athletes all over the field.”

Pollack continued to praise Penn State, “This Penn State offense has speed. They have speed all over the field. Today we’re going to find out if Ohio State’s defensive tweaks are real”

Finally, Kirk Herbstreit gave his key to the game for Penn State, “If I’m Penn State, what I would do, I would do multiple formations, personnel groups, trips into the boundary. Make this still-inexperienced defense have to communicate. Maybe then you can get them out of position. To me, it’s pre-snap, what does Penn State do to try and confuse Ohio State?”

Even though Penn State has stumbled recently, it’s still an interesting matchup.
