Chop Robinson is one of the top returning EDGE rushers in the country for the 2023 season, according to Pro Football Focus.

PFF analyst Max Chadwick ranked Robinson No. 3 nationally, behind only Florida State’s Jared Verse and Washington’s Bralen Trice. He ranks above star players like Alabama’s Dallas Turner, Georgia’s Mykel Williams and Ohio State’s J.T. Tuimoloau.

Here’s Chadwick’s analysis on Robinson:

After seeing limited playing time at Maryland as a true freshman, Robinson transferred intradivision to Penn State and broke out as a sophomore.

He led all Power Five edge defenders in overall grade (90.6) and pass-rushing grade (92.4). For his efforts, he was the fourth-most valuable Power Five edge defender according to PFF’s wins above average metric.

Robinson made an immediate impact for the Nittany Lions in 2022, which was his 1st season with the program. He was credited with 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble.

He was a major reason why Penn State’s defense increased its havoc last season. The Nittany Lions led the Big Ten in sacks and tackles for loss a year ago. Robinson was top-3 on the team in both categories for the 2022 season.

Penn State is coming off of an 11-2 season which also included a Rose Bowl victory.
