Both Godwin and Smith played at Penn State, but not for long as teammates. Smith left for the NFL after Godwin’s true freshman season in 2014.
Smith got selected by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, while Godwin got picked in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Godwin had 1,103 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns last season, before a season-ending ACL injury. The Buccaneers are going to need all the help they can get with the Green Bay Packers coming to town.
The next chapter of Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers happens Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
