A few hundred fans hopeful to see two of college football’s top teams go head-to-head at Beaver Stadium left week were turned away because of counterfeit tickets, according to a report.

Ben Jones of StateCollege.com reported that Penn State turned away more than 300 fans from the Nittany Lion’s matchup against Ohio State on Sept. 29 due to counterfeit tickets. The game had its largest attendance in program history, as 110,889 filled the stadium.

Counterfeit tickets have become a huge issue in college football, especially for bigger games. Last year, Michigan issued a warning about counterfeit tickets prior to its matchup against Michigan State.

The Ohio State-Penn State game turned out to be one of the top college football games of the season. Despite owning a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions were unable to stop a late Buckeyes rally and OSU won 27-26.

Unfortunately for those 300-plus fans, they didn’t get the opportunity to see it live.

Let this serve as a warning to all college football fans. Always double-check your tickets before purchasing and heading to the stadium.
