KJ Hamler was beloved in Happy Valley while wearing the No. 1 jersey at Penn State during his college career. When he became a member of the Denver Broncos, his number assignment changed to No. 13.

This year, though, Hamler will be back wearing the No. 1 jersey with the Broncos. The team announced the number change with a post on Twitter on Monday.

Hamler is entered his second season in the NFL. He was a second-round pick by Denver in the 2020 NFL Draft, going No. 46 overall. In his rookie year, he tallied 30 catches for 381 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Broncos.

Hamler enjoyed a lot of success while wearing that No. 1 jersey with the Nittany Lions. In his two years with the program, Hamler totaled 98 catches for 1,658 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 1,036 kickoff return yards, 222 punt return yards and 87 rushing yards, while adding one more rushing touchdown to his totals.

After his 2019 season, Hamler was a second-team All-B1G selection.

We’ll see if that No. 1 jersey brings Hamler the kind of success he enjoyed during his time at Penn State.
