Desmond Howard says Tyler Warren could earn his way to Heisman consideration vs. Ohio State
Desmond Howard believes Penn State Tyler Warren could garner some consideration for the Heisman Trophy if he has a big game on Saturday vs. Ohio State.
The top-5 matchup for the Buckeyes is a tremendous platform for Warren, who has been one of the best offensive players in the country this season. Through 7 games, Warren has 47 catches for 559 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Warren’s biggest game came back on Oct. 12 against USC. In that contest, he caught 17 passes for 224 yards and 1 touchdown in Penn State’s overtime road win over the Trojans. Howard brought up that performance when talking about the Penn State tight end.
“I did media yesterday and the young lady said, ‘what about Tyler Warren, is he a Heisman candidate?'” Howard said on College GameDay on Saturday morning. “I said, ‘young lady, if he comes out here this afternoon and catches 17 balls against Ohio State like he did against USC, he’ll be on my ballot. Tyler Warren is a weapon.”

Getting to the Heisman ceremony may be a stretch for Warren, but he’s certainly a top contender for the Mackey Award — given annually to the nation’s top tight end. The Mackey Award has been around since 2000, but a Penn State player has never won the honor.
Penn State is looking for its first win over Ohio State since 2016 on Saturday.
