Penn State’s offensive line doesn’t want to take any chances in this week’s game against Michigan. assistant coach Matt Limegrover has his unit preparing as if star defensive lineman Rashan Gary will be on the field for the Wolverines on Saturday.

Gary did not see the field the entire month of October, missing the last three games for Michigan. The star defensive lineman has been battling an injury and hasn’t rushed a return. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has been quiet on Gary’s status and defensive coordinator Don Brown has said they’re trying to get their star lineman back quickly.

There’s been no update whether Gary will play this weekend against Penn State. However, Limegrover is planning to see him on the field on Saturday.

“Rashan Gary, we fully expect that he’ll be out there and are planning accordingly,” Limegrover told Greg Pickel of PennLive.com. “We’ll adjust if that doesn’t happen. Rashan is the complete package as far as length, speed athletic ability; you can’t run at him, you can’t run away from him.”

In five games this season, Gary has recorded 22 tackles, 4.5 for loss and two sacks. When on the field, Michigan’s defensive line becomes even more devastating.

The Wolverines have been just fine without their stud defensive lineman over the last month. They held Michigan State to just 94 total yards in a 21-7 win in a rivalry game. Michigan also slammed the door on Wisconsin’s offense, allowing just 13 points in a blowout win over the Badgers.

Nationally, Michigan’s defense ranks first in total defense (220 yards per game), first in pass defense (122.9 ypg), sixth in scoring defense (14.4 ppg) and ninth in rush defense (97.1 ypg).

Penn State’s offense provides a different challenge, especially with the mobility of quarterback Trace McSorley.

Saturday will mark a huge test for the Wolverines in their pursuit of a B1G East title and a CFB Playoff bid. Penn State certainly won’t make life easy for Michigan.
