Devyn Ford is headed to Notre Dame.

The former Penn State tailback made that announcement on Friday evening. He entered the transfer portal last month.

Here’s Ford’s announcement:

Ford played in just 4 games last season for the Nittany Lions. He rushed the ball 7 times for 37 yards in 2022.

However, he was a key player for Penn State early in his career. He went over 270 yards in both 2019 and 2020 during his first 2 years with the program.

Ford joins a Notre Dame team that was looking to replace Logan Diggs, who transferred to LSU earlier this spring. Ford will now step in as one of the most experienced running backs on the Irish’s roster.

Penn State’s future

As for Penn State, the Nittany Lions still have plenty of depth in the backfield. Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen are both expected back in 2023 after rushing for 1,061 and 867 yards, respectively, last season.

Penn State also added transfer running back Trey Potts from Minnesota earlier this offseason.

The Nittany Lions averaged 4.81 yards per game last season, which was good enough for 3rd in the Big Ten.
