Drew Allar pulls off fantastic TD pass with timely flip on trick play
Drew Allar started Saturday’s game against Maryland with an ultra-efficient outing. He even produced a highlight-reel touchdown, though the play itself will only be recorded as a 2-yard score.
The play actually started with Beau Pribula lined up in the shotgun and Allar lined up as a wide receiver. After the snap, Pribula began running around the edge and flipped the ball to Allar who was running a reverse toward the bottom of the screen.
After that, the play set up as a run or pass option. Allar started to run but was quickly under pressure and was being tackled to the field. Just before he landed on the turf, Allar was able to get off a simple flick toward the end zone.
The play ultimately went to Theo Johnson as the Nittany Lions cashed in to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter:
