Drew Allar and Tyler Warren have Penn State looking at a trip to the College Football Playoff semifinals. But first, they’ll need to take care of Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Boise State opened the game on offense, but it was Penn State’s defense delivering the stop it needed in the red zone. A field goal try by the Broncos was also well wide of the mark to take over possession.

On their first drive, the Nittany Lions cashed in an early touchdown via Allar and Warren, but the majority of the drive was all about the ground game. Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton combined for 55 yards on just 6 carries, including a 23-yard pickup from Allen to jumpstart the drive.

After that, it was Allar finding Warren in the back of the end zone with a perfect connection. The play was a slow developing one but allowed Warren to work his way free behind the defense where Allar’s lofted pass was on target.

Penn State’s ground game figures to find some room to work against Boise State’s defense, and that will only further open up the passing lanes for Allar and Warren.
