Ejani Shakir was a 4-star piece of Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class. Now, Shakir is reopening his recruitment with Thanksgiving just days away and the Early Signing Period in December quickly closing in.

Shakir made the announcement via a statement on social media.

“First, I would like to thank Penn State, Coach Franklin, Coach Stubbs and staff for taking their time to recruit and host me and my family to an amazing university,” Shakir wrote in a statement.

“I want to thank the Penn State fans for all the love and support throughout my recruitment process.

“With that being said, I will be decommitting from Penn State University.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Shakir is a 4-star prospect and No. 53 WR nationally for the class of 2023. The 6-foot, 175-lb. WR out of Atco, New Jersey is also the No. 6 player out of New Jersey for the cycle.
