Penn State is working on building its 2023 recruiting class, and a key in-state prospect has the Nittany Lions in the running after making some cuts.

The player is Josiah Trotter, a 4-star linebacker for the class of 2023. He unveiled his top 5 list on Friday with Penn State squarely in the mix. Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia rounded out the rest of Trotter’s list.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Trotter is a 4-star prospect and the No. 7 recruit out of Pennsylvania for 2023. He is also a top-300 prospect in the country, checking in at No. 269 and the No. 26 LB nationally.

So far, the Nittany Lions have 8 commitments in their 2023 recruiting class. That group is headlined by 5-star offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier and already has 3 commitments from Pennsylvania recruits. It will be interesting to see if Trotter joins that group down the road.
