ESPN’s FPI has been predicting the biggest games all throughout the 2024 college football season, starting all the way back in Week 0. That will not be changing during the College Football Playoff.

All of the CFP games are getting predictions by ESPN’s FPI, and that includes the Fiesta Bowl matchup between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Boise State Broncos.

Even though Boise State is the higher seed in the CFP, Penn State is looked at as the team that is expected to win. ESPN’s FPI is giving the Nittany Lions just under a 65% chance to win this game, leaving the Sun Devils with only a 35.2% chance.

Penn State took care of absolute business in the win against SMU, as the Nittany Lions dominated the game from start to finish. The Nittany Lions won the game 38-10, and the defense was especially dominant.

The Mustangs were able to get only 253 yards of offense, including only 58 rushing yards on 36 carries.

Boise State has been a terrific team as well, with its only loss being at Oregon early in the season by 3 points. The Broncos are led by superstar running back Ashton Jeanty, who finished 2nd in the Heisman Trophy race this season.

Kickoff between the 2 teams will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on New Year’s Eve on ESPN live from State Farm Stadium.
