ESPN's FPI predicts the outcome of Washington at Penn State in Week 11
ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) always predicts the outcome of each college football game every week. With Week 10 now behind us, the model has released its predictions for Week 11.
Included in the Week 11 predictions is the Washington-Penn State game. The model sees the Nittany Lions as a huge favorite, giving the team an 87.2% chance to win the conference battle. This means the Huskies have just a 12.8% chance to pull off the upset in Happy Valley.
The Nittany Lions will be looking for revenge after a heartbreaking loss in Week 10. The team, once again, fell to Ohio State. The team has now lost 9 of the last 10 against the Buckeyes. The loss was the Nittany Lions’ first of the season, so the team will enter the game against Washington with a 7-1 record.
The Huskies, meanwhile, enter the game coming off an impressive win over USC. The Huskies beat the Trojans 26-21 to get to 5-4 on the season and 3-3 in B1G play. It’s been a disappointing season for the Huskies overall, though, as the team made it all the way to the College Football Playoff just 1 season ago.
These teams have battled just 3 times in history, with only 1 of those matchups coming in the regular season. The last time the Huskies and Nittany Lions met was in the 2017 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, which Penn State won 35-28. The meeting before that came in the 1983 Aloha Bowl, which the Nittany Lions won 13-10.
The first meeting between these programs was way back in 1921. The Nittany Lions won that meeting as well, with a final score of 21-7. The Week 11 matchup will kick off from Beaver Stadium on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
