Penn State football is off to a hot start to the 2022 season.

The Nittany Lions are 4-0, looking to improve to 5-0 against Northwestern Saturday. The No. 11 team in the country has already dispatched of Ohio, Central Michigan, Purdue and Auburn to start the year.

Northwestern has been a lot of the opposite. The Wildcats downed a hapless Nebraska squad to start the year in Dublin, but haven’t won since, falling to Duke, Southern Illinois and Miami OH.

Those aren’t exactly quality losses, and they definitely don’t look good for the Wildcats’ chances Saturday afternoon.

ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) predicted the outcome of the B1G matchup heading into Week 5. It’s not pretty for Wildcat fans. According to the metric, Penn State has a 96.9% chance of improving to 5-0 Saturday.

The one weapon Northwestern has that could make Penn State flinch is Evan Hull. The 5-foot-11 junior has 370 yards rushing on 85 carries with 3 trips to the end zone.

Penn State isn’t down in the running back department, though. The Nittany Lions’ freshman phenom Nick Singleton is lighting the B1G on fire and has rushed for 376 yards and 4 touchdowns in half the carries as Hull (42).

Kickoff is set for 3:30 EST at Beaver Stadium on ESPN.
