Signing autographs comes with the territory for recognizable sports coaches, athletes and celebrities. It’s a pretty common request among fans.

But some fanatics stretch the boundaries a little bit and take it a little too far.

Something like that once happened to Penn State head coach James Franklin.

In an ESPN story, Heather Dinich asked college football coaches about some of the strangest autograph requests they’ve received in their career. Franklin’s takes the (urinal) cake.

Here’s the quote from the story:

While I standing at the stall, using the commode, the guy was tapping me on the shoulder with a Sharpie asking me to autograph a ball. I turned around and looked over my shoulder and said, ‘Can you give me a minute?’ And he stepped over about five feet and waited by the sink. When I got done washing my hands, he was there waiting for the autograph.

Talk about invading your personal space.

We all know college football fans can be a little extreme sometimes, but this seems excessive. And awkward. Really, really awkward.

Next time you see your favorite football coach – or any celebrity for that matter – let them step away from the urinal before you ask for an autograph.
