Penn State closed its 2017 class with a bang.

The Lions landed a recruit from enemy territory (Maryland) who also had an Alabama offer.

Four-star defensive back Tariq Castro-Fields announced that he’s coming to Penn State in 2017:

Castro-Fields is the No. 34 cornerback and the No. 298 player overall in the 247sports composite. He’s Penn State’s 11th four-star commit in its 2017 class.

The Lions were believed to be the early favorite to land the Upper Marlboro (Md.) recruit, but questions circled after he delayed his commitment announcement and Maryland made a late push.

But in the end, Penn State added yet another talented defensive back to its 2017 class. Castro-Fields will join fellow Penn State four-star defensive backs Lamont Wade, Jonathan Sutherland and Donovan Johnson in the 2017 class.

Penn State currently ranks No. 3 in the B1G and No. 15 overall in the 247sports class rankings.
