When you’re hot, you’re hot. Right now, Penn State is about as hot as it can be.

Besides the fact that the Lions will play in the B1G Championship on Saturday night with a chance to make the College Football Playoff, they’ve been rolling on the recruiting trail.

That continued on Thursday night.

Justin Fields, a four-star 2018 dual-threat quarterback, announced his pledge to the Lions. That moved Penn State all the way up to No. 1 in the 247sports 2018 class rankings:

Fields is the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 182 player overall, according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-2.5, 210-pound Georgia native has offers from the likes of Georgia, Michigan State, Nebraska North Carolina, Tennessee and others.

After visiting for the Iowa game, which Penn State dominated from start to finish, Fields had his mind made up.

He became the sixth Penn State commitment in James Franklin’s 2018 class, all of which are rated four stars or better.
