A former Penn State and NFL offensive lineman weighed in on Urban Meyer’s decision to step down as Ohio State’s head football coach. But this wasn’t exactly a friendly farewell.

Tuesday morning, after news broke that Meyer would be retiring from his post, Rich Ohrnberger decided to chime in on the situation. He focused on something that has become somewhat of a trend, though.

Ohrnberger — in a way — compared Meyer’s end at Florida to his end at Ohio State. And it isn’t a great look for Meyer. Here’s what the former Nittany Lion tweeted Tuesday morning:

That’s a pattern a lot of people are going to point to over the next several days.

During his time at Florida, Meyer came under harsh scrutiny for several arrests involving his players. Despite success on the field, he was accused of not having control of the program.

Meyer stepped away prior to the 2011 season due to health concerns.

Earlier this year, Meyer, of course, was accused of mishandling the domestic violence allegations and arrests that involved former assistant coach Zach Smith. That situation landed him a three-game suspension to start the season.

Since then, there’s been growing speculation about whether Meyer would be back in Columbus in 2019. While he repeatedly stated he would be the head coach at Ohio State next season, there were plenty of doubters to that notion.

The ongoing health concerns, which included excruciatingly painful headaches, became an issue for Meyer throughout the season. Because of his actions on the sideline this year, many believed 2018 would be Meyer’s final season in Columbus.

Now it’s official, Meyer is stepping away from the program. And it appears to be a very similar situation as to what happened at Florida.

Ohrnberger thought that needed to get pointed out.
