Former Penn State Nittany Lion and current New Orleans Saints punter Blake Gillikin booted an 81 yard punt in Friday’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

He was scheduled for a random drug test less than 48 hours later.

Gillikin spent four years at Penn State from 2016-2019, breaking a program record for punt average in 2018 with 44 yards per punt. He’s tied for second on Penn State’s all time career punt average list with 43.03 yards per punt.

He is also just the second Nittany Lion punter to reach 10,000 career punt yards alongside Jeremy Kapinos.

Gillikin took over punting duties for the Saints last season, averaging 42 yards per punt and ranking fourth in the NFL with 29 punts downed within the 20-yard line. He signed with the Saints in 2020 as an undrafted free agent.
