A former Penn State quarterback is reuniting with Joe Moorhead to become a member of the Mississippi State staff.

On Sunday, Billy Fessler tweeted out that he was headed to Mississippi State to join the Bulldogs’ staff ahead of the 2019 season. He spent the 2018 season at Slippery Rock, a Division II program located in Pennsylvania. As a graduate assistant, he coached the running backs.

“It was an honor to work with Slippery Rock Football and I am more than thankful for the opportunity they gave me,” Fessler wrote on Twitter. “With that being said, I am excited for the next opportunity. Hail State!”

Fessler was a member of a quarterback room that included Trace McSorley and Tommy Stevens at Penn State. He was also under the direction of Moorhead, who was the offensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions during that time.

Fessler played in every game for the Nittany Lions in 2017, appearing as the placeholder on special teams. He threw just two passes as a quarterback.

There was no mention of what position Fessler will hold on Moorhead’s staff.
