Former Penn State QB Trace McSorley has landed a new NFL opportunity.

The Chicago Bears are signing McSorley, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. It just so happens during Penn State-Ohio State week that McSorley gives the Bears another body in the quarterback room as Justin Fields deals with injury.

McSorley was at Penn State from 2014-to-2018, earning second-team All-Big Ten recognition in each of his final 3 seasons. He was selected No. 197 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.

McSorley was with the Ravens throughout the 2019 and ’20 seasons. In November 2021 he was signed off the Ravens’ practice squad by the Arizona Cardinals. He remained with Arizona through the 2022 season.

In April, McSorley signed a 1-year deal with the New England Patriots. He was let go during final roster cuts in August.

Professionally, McSorley has played in 9 games. He made his first start last season with the Cardinals. In his career, McSorley is 48-of-93 for 502 yards with 1 touchdown and 5 interceptions.

The Bears host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
