Former Penn State WR makes Washington Commanders roster as UDFA
Former Penn State WR Mitchell Tinsley has made it onto an opening day roster, landing on the 53-man roster of the Washington Commanders Tuesday afternoon.
Tinsley spent one season in James Franklin’s program as a key transfer wideout during the 2022 season. He joined the Nittany Lions after a stint at Western Kentucky, going on to lead Penn State in receptions with 51 a season ago. Tinsley was also second on the team with 577 receiving yards and tied for the team lead with 5 touchdowns.

Tinsley went undrafted this spring but shined in the pre-draft process and has carved out his roster spot with a strong preseason. Tinsley went for 89 receiving yards in the preseason finale and has displayed solid route running and good hands.

With a talented WR room that includes former B1G stars Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, playing time for Tinsley might be hard to come by. Still, he’s on the roster and could get a chance to contribute in 2023.
