Penn State is adding a former quarterback with B1G experience to its offensive staff.

The BC Lions of the Canadian Football League released a statement saying that Danny O’Brien has accepted a position with Penn State. He is planning to head to State College to be an offensive analyst for the Nittany Lions for the upcoming season.

O’Brien coached the running backs for the BC Lions the past two seasons.

O’Brien’s college career started at Maryland in 2009 but he didn’t see gam action until 2010. As a redshirt freshman, he threw for 2,438 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 57% of his passes for the Terrapins. The following year, he threw for 1,648 yards and 7 touchdowns in 9 games.

Following the 2011 season, O’Brien transferred to Wisconsin. He appeared in 7 games for the Badgers in 2012, throwing for 523 yards and 3 touchdowns. After one year in Madison, he then left for Catawba College, where he threw for 2,490 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 3 additional scores.

Penn State ended the 2020 season with a 4-5 record.
