If Chris Godwin laid an egg in the Rose Bowl, he would’ve had a legitimate excuse.

He, of course, didn’t. Looking back, the fact that he had a career day was even more impressive of an accomplishment.

The former¬†Penn State receiver revealed at the NFL Scouting Combine that he was battling a serious stomach bug that he caught the night before the Rose Bowl.¬†He said that he didn’t stop throwing up until right before the game.

Godwin’s 187 receiving yards and two scores in the Rose Bowl nearly pushed Penn State to a victory. It’s safe to say that Godwin did about everything in his power to get the Lions there.

He was a force in every way possible.

That performance likely made an impact on Godwin’s decision to declare early for the NFL draft. The All-B1G wideout led the Lions in receiving back-to-back years and became an integral part of their resurgent season.

Godwin spent the last couple months training and getting pointers from former All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson.

Godwin and the rest of the receivers will go through individual workouts at the combine on Saturday.
