Former Penn State wide receiver DeAndre Thompkins is getting an opportunity in Green Bay.

Earlier this week, the Green Bay Packers announced that they have signed Thompkins. He came out of Penn State in 2019 but was not selected in the NFL Draft. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles but was released following training camp.

Thompkins also spent a brief period of time with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020.

Thompkins was at Penn State from 2014-18 and played in 45 career games with the Nittany Lions. His most productive season in Happy Valley came in 2017 when he totaled 443 yards and 3 touchdowns on 28 catches. That year, Thompkins also returned 24 punts for 319 yards and a touchdown.

Over the course of his career with the Nittany Lions, Thompkins eclipsed the 300-yard receiving mark three times and totaled over 400 yards in back-to-back season in 2016 and 2017. He left Penn State with 1,245 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns while also accumulating 675 yards and a pair of touchdowns on punt returns.
