Greg McElroy is looking for the Penn State offensive line to step up. The unit did not do a great job against Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio University. McElroy had some words to say on his Always College Football podcast.

“Stop me if you’ve heard this…but the Penn State offensive line needs to show some serious improvement. All I know is that Penn State, their offensive line has not been exactly a force in quite some time.”

Ohio is not Auburn, and that is the challenge for Penn State on Saturday. Quarterback Sean Clifford will need to be protected better to pull out a victory on the road in Jordan-Hare Stadium after the offensive line gave up 3 Sacks and 8 TFL against Ohio.

“I think it’s going to be very important for Penn State to hold up front against a quality pass rushing group that can cause a lot of problems for you,” said McElroy. “I think this will be a huge point of emphasis to get the ball out of Sean Clifford’s hands quickly.”

The Nittany Lions also have star freshman Nick Singleton in the backfield. The running back has rushed for a nation-best 10.5 yards per carry.

This is a big test for Penn State, let’s see if they can make the adjustments.
