It’s early, but Penn State is already laying a solid foundation for a talented 2018 class.

The Lions already have commitments from five-star defensive end Micah Parsons and two other four-star recruits. On Tuesday, they added one more.

Four-star 2018 tight end Pat Freiermuth gave his pledge to the Lions after he took a weekend visit to State College:

Freiermuth is the No. 1 player in Massachusetts and the No. 7 tight end in the 2018 class.

The 6-4, 225-pound junior will follow in the footsteps of freshman tight end Danny Dalton, who was also the No. 1 player in Massachusetts in the 2016 class.

James Franklin now has four total commitments for his 2018 class, which ranks No. 1 in the B1G and No. 4 in the country. The Lions also got a commitment from four-star wide receiver Justin Shorter earlier in the month.
