Week 1 of the 2019 college football season has come to a close for the Big Ten.

Each team has played its first game and Penn State absolutely demolished Idaho 79-7.

After the game, coaches and players talk to the media, no matter the result. This 72-point game was no different. Idaho coach Paul Petrino had his time to talk and talked about the reality of losing by more than 70 points:

“It’s a long season,” Petrino said. “That’s a tough day today. That’s tough on anybody’s pride.”
Realistically, Petrino’s right. These small schools like Idaho travel to take on some of college football’s best every season and get a massive payday out of it — sometimes over $1 million. In the end, is the paycheck and beat-down that often occurs worth it?
That’s what every athletic director has to ask themselves before scheduling these types of games.
