A third Pennsylvania native has decided to stay close to home and play college football at Penn State.

Tuesday, three-star linebacker Tyler Elsdon announced via Twitter his decision to pledge to Penn State, becoming the third in-state product to join the Nittany Lions’ 2020 class. The Ashland native is the 13 player to commit this cycle.

“I am honored, blessed, and extremely grateful to announce that I will be staying HOME and will be COMMITTING to PENN STATE UNIVERSITY,” Elsdon wrote in a tweet. “Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates high school and community for your support.”

Elsdon is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker who has received plenty of offers from FCS and FBS programs throughout his recruitment. Some of the more notable schools trying to poach Elsdon from the state were Maryland, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and Maryland.

With Elsdon’s commitment, Penn State has climbed into the top 20 in the recruiting rankings, sitting in the No. 19 spot. In the B1G, the Nittany Lions rank fourth.
