James Franklin addresses plans to play Drew Allar in B1G game vs. Northwestern
Penn State is moving right along with an unbeaten 4-0 record heading into Week 5.
The Nittany Lions’ head coach James Franklin during Tuesday’s presser, discussed his quarterback situation with Sean Clifford and if true freshman quarterback Drew Allar will get any time in the upcoming game against Northwestern.
“The more experience that we can gain and allow those guys to get, the better we are. Fortunately, Sean Clifford and the offense… have allowed us to be in a situation where we can get [Drew] time in the game.”
Allar, entered last week’s game against Central Michigan with Penn State up by 19 points. Allar was able to secure some stats, even if he was only in the game a short amount of time with 2-of-5 passing for 20 yards.
Franklin is not ruling out playing Allar during the Northwestern game and is hoping to get a strategy in place ahead of Saturday with Clifford as starting quarterback.
Franklin on potentially putting Drew Allar in the game against Northwestern: "We would love to be able to do that again this week. We haven't talked about our strategy to do that this week."
