James Franklin addresses whether or not he expects opt-outs for Rose Bowl vs. Utah
James Franklin shared what his expectation is for the majority of his players this bowl season. Many players in the past have decided to opt out of bowl games in order to prepare for the NFL.
Franklin stated on Sunday that he expects almost the entire team to play and compete in the Rose Bowl vs. Utah. Franklin and Utah HC Kyle Whittingham had similar statements when asked about their players participating.
“We expect that almost the entirety of our team will play & compete,” James Franklin said when asked if players are less likely to opt out bc it’s the Rose Bowl.

Regardless of who’s playing in the game, the Nittany Lions will have to find a way to stop the red hot Utes. Utah is coming off of an upset of USC in the Pac-12 Championship game. This will be the first time that either team has played one another.
