During Penn State’s 79-7 win over Idaho, a lot of different players got to play.

In fact, 71 different Nittany Lions saw playing time.

Damion Barber wasn’t one of them, and on Tuesday during a press conference, coach James Franklin said that it was because of a violation of team rules. He wouldn’t explain further.

Franklin also said that Barber will be available for Week 2, as on the latest Nittany Lions depth chart, he is listed as a second-string defensive tackle.

“His development as a football player has been impressive,” Franklin said before the Idaho game. “You look at the amount of weight that he’s put on, learning a new position, gaining confidence in there, the size, the strength, the quickness.

“He’s had a really nice camp. He really has. And he’s grown up in a lot of different ways. But I think you’re going to see him factor in.”

Penn State is set to play Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Beaver Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.
