James Franklin had an interesting statement about the Land-Grant Trophy on Tuesday at the team’s press conference. It sounded like he may have been using some sarcasm when talking about it.

Franklin called the trophy “a sight to be seen” and stated that the game is “maybe the most beautiful trophy game in all of college football.”

Whether Franklin was being facetious or not, Penn State will be hoping for a different outcome than 2021. Last season Michigan State beat Penn State 30-27 in East Lansing.

The Nittany Lions have a chance to tie the series at 18 with a win on Saturday. The Spartans are battling for bowl eligibility while the Nittany Lions are 9-2 with not much to lose coming other than bragging rights.

Penn State can reclaim the Land-Grant Trophy at its home field this season with a win. Fans will have to wait until 4 p.m. ET on FS1 to see if that can become a reality.
