James Franklin comments on Penn State's transfer portal management following recent addition of former UNC DB Storm Duck

James Franklin spoke about how Penn State has handled the transfer portal at Wednesday’s media availability at Disneyland. This comes after the Nittany Lions added former North Carolina DB Storm Duck.

Duck definitely has one of the more interesting names in college football. Franklin stated that Penn State usually tries to target interesting names in the portal because it gets the media excited.

“We also look for really interesting, strong names from the transfer portal because whenever we can do that you guys get really excited,” said Franklin.

Asked James Franklin about how he feels like they’ve managed the portal so far. He added: “We also look for really interesting, strong names from the transfer portal because whenever we can do that you guys get really excited.”

I’d say Storm Duck fits the bill.

It’s unclear whether or not Franklin was explicitly talking about the recent addition of Duck to the Penn State defense.

Duck brings a lot of experience to the Nittany Lion secondary. Duck played in 29 games for the Tarheels and compiled 103 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 5 interceptions throughout his time in Chapel Hill.

It’ll be interesting to see how DC Manny Diaz utilizes Duck on the Penn State defense.
