James Franklin has loved what he’s seen from OL Olumuyiwa Fashanu this season. He did confirm that the lineman suffered an injury against Ohio State at Tuesday’s presser, however.

Fashanu left the game early because of an injury. Franklin didn’t reveal what exactly the injury was. The team will have to see how Fashanu does leading into the Indiana game before making a decision.

Franklin then praised Fashanu for his consistency. While there are sometimes that Fashanu will get out of position, Franklin noted that the Penn State OL always finds a way to correct it before it’s too late.

“He has unbelievable play strength,” said Franklin. “He is usually in great position. If he is out of position, he has the ability to get himself back into a winning position against a defensive end.”

Out of all the questions that Franklin has gotten, very few have been about Fashanu, if any. Franklin believes that it’s because coaches tend to get asked about offensive linemen when they mess up.

Fashanu has simply been doing his job which makes him very reliable.

“I don’t think I’ve gotten a question about Olu all year long,” said Franklin. “Why? Because the guy is just doing his job. Most people only notice offensive linemen when they’re not doing their job.”
