James Franklin discusses availability of 2 key defenders for Michigan game
Penn State may have just gotten some good news about the status of two players currently on the injured list.
Jesse Luketa and Jonathan Sutherland both had to sit out for the Maryland game. Luketa has been dealing with an unspecified injury suffered in the Ohio State game in Week 9. Sutherland has also been dealing with an undisclosed injury since the Iowa game in Week 7.
James Franklin said he is hopeful that both players will see the field for the Michigan game. The team is coming off of 31-14 win over Maryland. Onward Sports posted the coach’s comments on Twitter following Wednesday’s practice.
Franklin said he “hopes” Jesse Luketa and Jonathan Sutherland will play against Michigan.

Both players have really stepped into their roles with the team. Luketa has 40 total tackles, 6 TFL half a sack, and an interception in 2021. Sutherland has 15 tackles this year.
Penn State (6-3) and No. 6 Michigan (8-1) play Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
