James Franklin flew to Columbus the day after Penn State lost to Ohio State
James Franklin probably had a few different things he wanted to do last Sunday, a day after Penn State suffering a heartbreaking 27-26 loss to Ohio State.
Maybe he wanted to just spend a day relaxing in his home, as the Nittany Lions are entering a bye week. Maybe he wanted to get into the office and get to work, trying to find a way for Penn State to finish the year 11-1 and nudge its way back into the CFB Playoff picture. Or maybe he just wanted to eat some ice cream and sulk.
What he didn’t want to do was visit Columbus, Ohio. Unfortunately for Franklin, that’s what he had to do.
Less than 24 hours after suffering the loss to Ohio State, Franklin took a trip to the home of the Buckeyes for recruiting purposes, according to StateCollege.com’s Ben Jones.
Talk about salt in the wound, James Franklin says he flew to Columbus the day after the Ohio State game for recruiting. Joked that was more or less the last place he wanted to be.

Franklin probably had some stomach issues knowing he had to visit the city after the loss.
The recruiting visit was obviously set up well in advance of Saturday night’s game, and Franklin was probably confident that his team would win, giving him an extra selling point on his trip. It just didn’t quite work out that way.
Penn State currently owns the 12th ranked 2019 recruiting class nationally and is third in the B1G. The Nittany Lions currently have no commitments in their 2020 class, per 247Sports.
