James Franklin doesn’t want to see support for any other schools on the Penn State campus, especially not a division rival. So when he saw a student walking around with a Michigan State sweatshirt on, he decided she needed something to add to her wardrobe.
Now, Megan McNeely is the proud owner of one of James Franklin’s Nittany Navy Penn State vests. When Franklin spotted McNeely wearing a Michigan State sweater on campus, he had to do something about it.
“We were standing there talking and I heard someone start saying ‘Michigan State?! Why are you wearing that,'” McNeely told OnwardState.com.
Penn State coach James Franklin saw a student wearing a Michigan State shirt on campus, so he gave her the shirt off his back to cover it up 😂😂 @coachjfranklin

Franklin walked over to her, took off his vest and allowed McNeely to cover up the Michigan State shirt with the new PSU vest. McNeely said she owned the shirt because she is originally from Michigan and has several friends who attend school in East Lansing.
“Franklin was super nice and fun about it,” McNeely said. “He definitely made my day.”
The lesson here? If you ever want free Penn State gear, just wear a different school shirt on campus and hope to run into the head football coach. Although he may eventually run out of those blue vests.
