James Franklin knows that the decision between Tyler Elsdon and Kobe King for the starting middle linebacker spot for Penn State is getting critical with Week 1 coming up.

On Wednesday, Penn State head coach James Franklin has stated that Elsdon has a slight lead for the starting spot.

The middle linebacker position has been one of the biggest concerns for the defense of Penn State all off-season. Eldson, King, and freshman Keon Wylie have been battling for the spot.

Elsdson is the most experienced defender to potentially start at mike linebacker this season for Penn State. Last season, Elsdon accounted for 10 total tackles and 8 solo tackles.

Penn State looks to be more efficient in rush defense as they finished last season ranked 67th in rushing yards allowed per game (152.7). Penn State was 10th in the B1G in rush defense.
