Penn State coach James Franklin has earned the reputation as a bit of a troller during his press conferences over the years. When he wants to, he just has a knack for saying the thing that will get under the opposition’s skin.

But Franklin is doing none of that this week. On Tuesday, he was highly complimentary of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, praising head coach P.J. Fleck, their offensive line and wide receiver groups.

Fleck has led Minnesota to an 8-0 record, which has turned this game into the biggest in the B1G this weekend. The Golden Gophers offensive line has helped Minnesota average 204 rushing yards per game this season, including 293 yards on the ground on average the last four weeks.

But Franklin gave his highest praise to Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. The Penn State coach claims that he has a “huge man crush” on the sophomore defensive back.

Winfield has 46 tackles, including 2.0 for loss, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble and five interceptions this season.
