Penn State recently secured James Franklin to a long-term extension, but the Nittany Lions will have to find a new offensive coordinator heading into 2020.

It was reported Monday that Ricky Rahne, Penn State’s offensive coordinator since the start of 2018, was leaving to take the head coaching position at Old Dominion. That move was confirmed later in the day.

Though many Nittany Lion fans had mixed feelings about Rahne’s performance leading the offense, his departure does leave a big void in Happy Valley. Rahne previously worked with Franklin at Kansas State and has served alongside Franklin since 2011. That stretch includes a number of different roles for Rahne at Vanderbilt and Penn State.

Current Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford also extended his well wishes to his offensive coordinator:

Hopefully, Rahne experiences success at his next stop. Now, Penn State must turn its attention to finding a replacement moving forward.
