James Franklin knows everyone is keeping an eye on Drew Allar’s status after the quarterback left Week 12 with an injury. However, the head coach had some jokes when asked about Allar’s practice session on Tuesday.

While Allar was on the field and practicing Tuesday night, it was pointed out by some media members in attendance that the QB did not have any throws during the viewing window. Franklin said that was by design to get social media stirred up.

Franklin quickly admitted that was just a joke. However, Penn State is still confident Allar can get ready to go for Friday night’s game.

“(He’s) Good, we didn’t throw (Drew) when y’all were out there today just so you could blow up Twitter and Instagram,” cracked Franklin. “I know (it’s working), but we did that just to mess with you guys.

“No, that’s not the case, but we’re still confident that he’ll be ready to go.”

Allar took a hard hit that appeared to be directly to his right (throwing) shoulder in the game against Rutgers. He had an errant incomplete pass after that hit and was quickly pulled from the game for Beau Pribula.

The Nittany Lions are working with a short week with a Black Friday matchup against Michigan State. So far, it does not sound like that schedule is impacting Allar, but we’ll find out come game time.
