James Franklin on College Football Playoff: 'There needs to be a discussion'
James Franklin is the head coach at Penn State, a program that many believe is on the rise.
On Friday at Day two of the 2019 Big Ten Media Days, Penn State was one of the seven teams featured and Franklin got to speak with the media. Franklin touched on a number of topics, but was asked about the College Football Playoff and what is wrong with it.
After all, the Big Ten has been left out of the playoff the past two seasons:
"I think obviously when you're left out of the playoff two years in a row, there needs to be a discussion."

James Franklin said Big Ten has to have a discussion about divisional breakup and 9 conference games after Big Ten left out of College Football Playoff.
He'd be right if the CFP wasn't expanding. Which, let's face it, will.

There’s no question that if the Big Ten wants the respect it believes it deserves, it has to deliver on the biggest stage. That stage is the CFP.
If the B1G isn’t there year after year, something has to change. Franklin knows that much.
