James Franklin has parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich according to multiple reports on Sunday afternoon.

Jon Sauber with the Centre Daily Times was the first to report the news of the decision. The move comes on the heels of Penn State losing to Michigan while the offense was completely inefficient for large portions of the game.

Franklin will prepare to hire his 6th OC since 2014 with Yurcich out in Happy Valley.

Yurcich joined the program in 2021, and the offense has improved every season of his tenure. However, the Nittany Lions have continued to fall flat in the biggest games on the schedule.

Overall, the Nittany Lions are averaging 37.7 points per game in the 8-2 start to 2023. However, the team managed just 27 total points in losses to Ohio State and Michigan. Outside of those games, Penn State has hit at least 30 points in every game.

In the loss to Michigan, Penn State managed just 238 yards of offense with Drew Allar going 10-for-22 through the air for 70 yards. That performance is far from good enough, and the Nittany Lions will need to prepare for the influx of programs joining the B1G from the Pac-12 next season.

With everything on the line, Franklin will need to make sure he lands the right OC to continue the development of Allar and the performance of dynamic RB duo Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton.
